Three Practical Choices You Can Make To Avoid Cancer

Your chances of getting cancer are partly due to life choices that you make.  Here are three simple choices anyone like you can follow to lower your cancer risk.

Avoid tobacco

Smoking could heighten your risk of cancer.  It is linked to cancers of the lung, throat, larynx, cervix, pancreas, and even kidney.

Tobacco chewing has also been linked to cancer of the mouth.  Regular and long-term exposure to secondhand smoke could also increase your chances of contracting cancer of the lungs.

If you feel you can’t do it alone, consult your physician.  He can discuss with you about anti-smoking products as well as tactics on overcoming the habit of smoking.

Go for healthy food and drinks

Eating foods that are healthy isn’t a foolproof way of escaping cancer, however, it will certainly help you lower your risk of this dreaded disease.

Load your diet with more vegetables and fruits instead of meat.  Avoid processed meat as these could increase your risk of getting certain types of cancer .

Studies reveal that a plant-based diet including beans and whole grains are healthy choices.  Aside from being kind to your gut, these foods will help you maintain a leaner physique.  Avoid foods that are high in bad cholesterol.  Avoid sugars and oil extracted from animals.

Findings reveal that a Mediterranean-based diet coupled with nuts and virgin olive oil reduces breast cancer risks among women.  This is because this diet is almost plant-based – a mix of healthy fruits, veggies, grains and nuts.

Get going

Engaging in exercise and body workouts can be cancer preventive.  On its own, engaging in physical activities could help you avoid getting breast and colon cancer.

Adults who regularly exercise have an added advantage over those who don’t.  For optimum health benefit, a two and a half hours per week of light  exercise or a one-hour per week of vigorous exercise is quite enough for those who don’t have the time.  You can design a mix of light and vigorous exercise if you want but if you can do more, the better for you.  Consistency is the key to getting the health benefits.  At least 30 minutes per day of exercise is also suggested.

If you are worried about getting cancer, quit worrying and follow these three simple suggestions now.
